Before operating this unit, please read this manual thoroughly, and retain it for future reference. some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue, or green in color) that appear constantly on the LCD screen. These points are normal results of the manufacturing process and do not affect the recording in any way.

Using the Menu
AUTO AREA ADJ
Maintains accurate time automatically by acquiring time information from the GPS system. Compensates for time differences automatically by acquiring location information from the GPS system.
Superimposes the date and time on images. Turns off the rear recording lamp.

Disables the supplied Wireless Remote Commander.
Formats the recording media.
USB CONNECT
OPERATION TIME CALIBRATION
Checks the database information and the consistency of movies and still images on the recording media, and repairs if any inconsistencies found. Used when [USB CONNECT] does not appear on the screen by connecting the camcorder to another device with the USB cable. Displays the total hours of operation.
Calibrates the touch panel.

· You can display the [EDIT] menu by pressing the MENU button when the VISUAL INDEX or playback screen is displayed.
Protects movies and still images to avoid deleting them by mistake.
Divides movies. Copies movies or still images from a memory card to a flash memory unit.

(CAMERA SET) menu
Settings to adjust your camcorder to the recording conditions (GAIN SET/ STEADYSHOT, etc. ) The default settings are marked with B. Press the MENU button t select (CAMERA SET) with the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial.
WB PRESET
You can use the preset white balance. For more details, see page 33.
WB OUTDOOR LEVEL
You can set an offset value to adjust the outdoor white balance when you set [WB PRESET] to [OUTDOOR]. -7 - B0 - +7 (bluish - normal - reddish)
GAIN SET
You can set gain values for H, M and L positions of the GAIN switch. Default setting:
[H]: 18 dB, [M]: 9 dB, [L]: 0 dB
WB TEMP SET
You can set the color temperature when you set [WB PRESET] to [MANU WB TEMP]. Temperature range: 2300K to 15000K in 100K increments.

1 Select [H], [M] or [L] with the SEL/ PUSH EXEC dial. 4 Press the MENU button to hide the menu screen.

AE SHIFT
x ON/OFF
You can turn on or off the function. When [ON] is selected, the selected value (-2. 0EV for example) appears on the screen.
x LEVEL
You can set an offset value to adjust the automatic exposure adjustment value with the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial.
AGC LIMIT
You can select the upper limit for the Auto Gain Control (AGC). BOFF, 27dB, 24dB, 21dB, 18dB, 15dB, 12dB, 9dB, 6dB, 3dB, 0dB

· If you adjust the gain manually, you cannot obtain the effect of [AGC LIMIT].

Uses SteadyShot under relatively stable condition.

· This function is automatically set to [OFF] when you switch the format, perform the function by the MENU button, or turn off the camcorder. · You cannot change the setting during recording or expanded focus operation. · The time code does not advance while recording the color bars.
ACTIVE
Uses SteadyShot with more powerful effect.

Does not output audio tone signals.

· [ACTIVE] can be selected when recording movies using a lens with optical SteadyShot complying with [ACTIVE]. · You cannot set [STEADYSHOT] when an E16 mm F2. 8 lens (sold separately) or an A-mount lens (sold separately) is attached.

Outputs audio tone signals (1 kHz: full bit -18 dB). z Tips
· You can assign an ASSIGN button to work as [ON/OFF] (p. · If you record color bars with [TONE] set to [OFF], the camcorder records sound from the microphone.

· You can assign this function to an ASSIGN button (p. [. . . ] Do not recharge, disassemble or dispose of in fire.
· When the lithium battery becomes weak, the operating distance of the Wireless Remote Commander may shorten, or the Wireless Remote Commander may not function properly. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion.
